I guess the fannish id is the Upside Down of creativity? Or something?

I've considered a few different potential fics, in a few different fandoms, for [community profile] iddyiddybangbang (anything that I write for The Hypnotists would be, automatically, an exercise in self-indulgence), but the story idea that I will most readily describe as "almost too much, even for me" is connected to Stranger Things...

...and it also involves hypnotism, because one of the official tie-in novels uses that as a plot device to make Dr. Brenner even creepier than he is on the show. What was I supposed to do: not start thinking about what I could do with that detail in fic?

(The book is called Suspicious Minds, by Gwenda Bond, and I would recommend it even outside the parts that are Tailored To Me Personally. Bond delves into the backstory of Eleven's mother, Terry - who is shown to be catatonic and nearly helpless when we see her on screen - and gives her agency, a compelling character arc, and a lovable found family. That last element was a really smart creative choice, because even though we know where Terry ends up, we can still hope that her friends will find some happiness.)
