Totally shameless "My life is awesome and has awesome people in it" post.

Also an "I'm sure this is relevant to some people's interests" post.

During an evening that included a delicious dinner, a chance to try on a homemade corset, a white kitty that shed all over my black outfit, way too much giggling like twelve-year-olds, and a shiny new-to-me anime series called Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic, my friends and I concluded that there should be an equivalent of the Shut Up And Take My Money meme for writers, role-players, and other people who become attached to fictional characters: SHUT UP AND TAKE MY HEADSPACE.

(Yes, this came from a conversation in which [livejournal.com profile] mllelaurel and [livejournal.com profile] wired_lizard assured/warned me that a particular character from Magi was My Type. I have not even met this gentleman yet, but I've been spoiled enough to have a sense of how very, very doomed I am.)

TRU FAX!!!

I might have heard of it, but definitely haven't seen it. Think I should give it a try sometime?

Maybe! Magi is, from what I can tell so far (I've only seen a few episodes), political fantasy with some of the mythology and a lot of names from The Arabian Nights woven in. There's treasure hunting, enchanted objects, battles and negotiations, magical obstacle courses, and outcasts learning The Power Of Friendship. The world-building is excellent so far, and the characters seem pretty engaging. (Sinbad is the one that my friends think I will like, and they did say that he's quite a bit like Jack Harkness, which I have a feeling might interest you.)

Oh my god I love this. It should totally be A Thing.

Also, I can spot my own personal "Shut Up and Take My Headspace" characters soooo quickly now... :P

WE SHALL MAKE IT A THING, ELLE.

I can usually spot my "Shut Up And Take My Headspace" types pretty well, too, whatever ends up happening as a result. And my friends and I have a great deal of fun trying to spot each other's.

That's one of the animes on my To Watch List. xD (I have too many on it right now.)

also that meme is totally a thing (Though I haven't quite figured out what exactly our archetype's common denominator is).

I'm looking forward to talking about it with you, when you decide to watch it.

I think that it's possible to have several common factors. And then there are characters who push all our buttons but still don't ping, for whatever reason.
