nevannaSo, remember when I said that I'd regret it if I didn't attempt something for Camp NaNoWriMo?
Yeah.
I've already told a few of you in person (because I felt like I needed permission or absolution) that I gave up on trying to meet my word-count goal for July. Part of this can be attributed to insufficient self-discipline on my part (which has been a problem for me all summer, if we're being honest), but I think that it might also be due to the nature of the project (which was a Fandom Bingo card). Although I thought at first that writing a lot of short pieces about a variety of different characters would allow for more flexibility - and I know that it definitely works well for some writers, even or especially on a tight deadline - I think that the inherent lack of focus contributed significantly to my lack of motivation.
Which isn't to say that I got nothing done! I'm working on completing one of the horizontal lines on my Ladies' Bingo card, and I wrote a few ficlets which I plan to revise, edit, and post on my journal even if I don't get points for them. That's more than I would have had if I hadn't at least made the attempt. I do regret not pushing myself harder, and I'm disappointed by what I didn't manage to accomplish, but I am - or at least I hope to be - proud of what I did.
Also, I've been looking over my old Wallglass stories from back in the day, to see if there's anything in there that I can use for a new project (which is something that I've considered several times over the past few years), and it is so full of unintentionally amusing or unintentionally creepy moments that I am sort of tempted to MST my own writing.
