Recently, I reblogged the following post on Tumblr.

Have I done this with various things I've watched and read? Absolutely. However, my most persistent Dollhouse crossover idea was inspired by the recaps of the Fifty Shades series on [livejournal.com profile] das_sporking, and now I cannot unsee it.

The following passage was the first thing I wrote with this AU in mind, but there will probably be more, if I don't end up regretting my choice to show it to anybody in the first place.

When I arrive home from work, I'm so preoccupied with thoughts of the evening ahead (Christian has sent me several very saucy texts about what he'd like to do to me once we're alone together), that at first I barely notice the two women in the lobby. One of them, an athletic-looking brunette, calls my name before I can turn away. "Anastasia Grey?"

"Yes, I'm Mrs. Grey," I reply, flushing with pleasure at the taste of the words on my tongue. "Can I help you?"

"My name is Echo." She gestures at her companion, who has golden hair and almond-shaped eyes. "This is Priya."

"We'd like to talk to you about… quite a few things, really," Priya jumps in. "Including your husband."

"What about him?" I ask cautiously. "Are you friends of his?" I look Echo up and down, from her hastily plaited hair to the soles of her boots, and realize at once that she must be one of my husband's fifteen ex-subs. She's certainly pretty enough (prettier than you), my subconscious sneers), even though her eyes look tired and she's dressed like she's ready for a hiking trip.

Priya snorts. "I hope not."

"Excuse me?" I’m not sure whether to be or not to be insulted by her answer. Either way, if Echo is here to try and win him back, she’s too late. Take that, bitch, my inner goddess smirks.

"I need to ask you a question," Echo tells me. "And – for what it's worth – whatever your answer is, I'm sorry." She looks me in the eye. "Are you ready for your treatment?"

The words relax me instantly, like letting out a breath, like collapsing into bed for a good night's sleep. "I enjoy my treatments," I say. I watch two of them exchange a look. "Is it going to take long? Christian and I have dinner reservations…"

"Anastasia, there's no easy way to tell you any of this," Echo says. Her voice isn't unkind. "Christian isn't the person you think he is… and neither are you."

I shake my head. "I know exactly what kind of person he is. He may have darkness in his past, but he's trying to overcome it. I'm the one who's bringing him into the light, and no amount of jealousy from people like you is going to change that."

"Oh, my God," Priya interrupts. "Will you listen to yourself?"

"I beg your pardon?" I snap. Echo’s last words catch up with me. "Wait, did you say that I'm not who I think I am?"

She forces a smile. “Let's take a walk."
