I do regret my participation in "Mary Sue" bashing, possibly more than I regret the majority of the fic I actually wrote during the same time period.
Rogan: SAME. It got me through a shitty time in my life, but there's a reason I've buried all that stuff. And for all my old derision for 50 Shades... reading and snarking the first half of it got me through the worst part of my eating disorder, so you know what, I'm going to say that 50 Shades proved one of the most powerful therapeutic tools at the time, and that means I shouldn't look down on it.
Now I'm kinda grateful that my profession basically would make trashing other people's work unforgivably bad taste. Means I'm doubly encouraged NOT to do it.
