I've been planning a Throwback Thursday post about a storyline in The Vampire Diaries that I both loved and hated (or, at least, I loved what I wanted it to be). Considering that this storyline involves the show's most prominent character of color, I would like to avoid weighing the post down with disclaimers about my role and responsibilities as a white fan. I do plan to acknowledge my position and perspective at least briefly, but hopefully I can keep the focus on the story instead of on my own fears that strangers on the Internet will yell at me if I don't self-flagellate to their satisfaction. Maybe that's just the White Lady Fragility talking, but I think that "wanting to avoid being yelled at by strangers on the Internet" is also a very reasonable human desire.
