Sekirei is one of the reasons why I included "complicate and unpack the central premise" on my list. At its baseline, it's a harem anime about a bunch of superpowered women with large breasts who are supernaturally bound to a mediocre male protagonist, but the ladies are all fully realized characters who have interesting dynamics with each other as well as with him. It's been a while since I watched the show, so I don't remember enough to say whether you'd like it or not, but once I got past the goofy premise and fanservice-y animation, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the storytelling.

Ha ha Utena really manages to answer "who would win in a fight?" with character-driven answers.
