The XME nostalgia has yet to stop...

I am thinking of holding an X-Men: Evolution commentfic fest here in my journal. It would most likely happen in a few weeks, when schoolwork is no longer an issue, but right now I'm trying to assess people's interest levels. Would anybody be interested in participating in and/or signal-boosting such a thing?
Also, the gang and I watched "Joyride" last night. While I recognize now that there are many troubling elements of Lance and Kitty's relationship, given what happened when they met, that episode still makes my inner sixteen-year-old 'shipper grin like a fool. And I am still grateful that this show did not tie Lance's redemption arc to his finding a permanent place with the X-Men.

Date: 2013-11-23 03:46 pm (UTC)If you haven't been reading my posts, X-Men: Evolution (Evo or XME to the fandom) is a cartoon series from the early 2000s, in which the teenage X-Men have to balance the concerns of attending a normal high school with learning to use their powers to Fight Evil. (So, basically a Canon High School AU.) I recommend it with the caveat that it can get extremely cheesy and preachy sometimes, but the writing is actually quite clever and the character development extremely solid in places, and the aforementioned balance of superpowered shenanigans with adolescent angst (and even using the former as a metaphor for the latter) is, at its best, reminiscent of early Buffy. It was my first huge fandom obsession, the inspiration for more fic than I've written before or since, and even as a grown-up person, I can still enjoy and appreciate it.
