12_12_12 linked to some of the deleted scenes from Season 4 of The Vampire Diaries, including this one from episode 13 or 14. (The link does contain some spoilers, if you haven't watched this season yet.)
I flailed a little bit at the following exchange (for a number of reasons that are obvious to most of you, and a couple more that may only be obvious to a few of you):
Bonnie: "I hate that Shane has so much control over me."
Elena: "He uses people's fears against them. He doesn't control you, Bonnie. You're stronger than him."
Yeah. Narrative kinks, I have them.
The storyline with Bonnie and Professor Shane - otherwise known as Sketchypants - exemplified a lot of what has come to frustrate me about this show (including how it tends to use mind control and supernatural influence), but there were elements of their scenes together - both before and after she stopped trusting him - that I absolutely loved. Shane didn't just use hypnosis and hinky teas to get inside Bonnie's head and manipulate her, and both she and Elena know it, and so do we.
